The study Revisiting CN⁻ Formation Mechanisms in Electron Collisions with Benzonitrile has been selected for the front cover of ChemPhysChem. The research work was first authored by Rodrigo Rodrigues, PhD student in the RaBBiT program at CEFITEC, and co-authored by the CEFITEC researchers Mónica Mendes, João Ameixa, and Filipe Ferreira da Silva.

On January 21, 2026, at 2:30 PM, Dr. Elisa Sani, Senior Researcher at National Institute of Optics, National Research Council of Italy (INO-CNR), will present a seminar entitled "Novel materials for sunlight absorption and energy transfer". The event will take place in Manuel Laranjeira Room, Physics Department (Building I).

On January 20 at 2 PM, our PhD student Hugo Costa will defend his PhD thesis in Physics Engineering.

Thesis title: Advances In Multirod Solar-Pumped Laser Technology

Supervisor: Prof. Dr. Dawei Liang

On January 19, 2026, at 2:30 PM, Professor Juna Sathian, Associate Professor and Deputy Lead of the Photonics Technology Group at Northumbria University, will present a seminar entitled "Advances in Room-Temperature Solid-State Masers: From Fundamental Physics to Practical Quantum Technologies." The event will take place in Ágora Room, NOVA FCT Library.

Across Europe and the World, there are major experimental facilities involving Brilliant X-ray Sources (Synchrotron) and Neutron Sources which we are able to use for free to support our research.  Such facilities do not exist in Portugal.

In 2025, Professor Dawei Liang once again stands out in Stanford University's annual ranking, which recognizes the most highly cited researchers worldwide (https://topresearcherslist.com/Home/Profile/1092126).

On July 23rd, 2025, at 2:00 PM, Dr. Martin Wüest, Senior Researcher at INFICON (Liechtenstein), will present a seminar entitled "Progress with Vacuum Gauges". The event will take place in Manuel Laranjeira Room of the Department of Physics.

Abstract:
