On October 16, 2026, at 2:00 PM, Professor Oddur Ingólfsson, Professor of Physical Chemistry at the University of Iceland and an internationally recognized expert in low-energy electron induced chemistry, will present a seminar entitled "Electron and photon induced fragmentation of pentafluorophenyl triflate, a potential photo acid generator for chemically amplified extreme ultraviolet lithography resists". The event will take place in Seminar Room 213, Department of Physics.
On behalf of Prof. Ana G. Silva, ESUO Delegate, CEFITEC is pleased to announce the NEPHEWS Photon Workshop that will take place from 1–4 December 2026 in Krakow, Poland. It is a four-day, on-site course for 24 participants, combining lectures, facility visits, and hands-on, project-oriented activities at the SOLARIS Synchrotron Centre. The programme is open exclusively to PhD candidates and students enrolled in second-cycle Master’s degree programmes, making it a valuable opportunity for early-career researchers interested in photon science and synchrotron facilities. In addition, NEPHEWS will provide financial support to selected participants attending the workshop. The application deadline is 16 October 2026. Dr. Cláudia Vistas, researcher in CEFITEC’s Solar-Pumped Laser Laboratory, ranked 2nd among eight funded candidates for the position of Assistant Researcher in the Physical Sciences category of the 8th Edition of the Individual Call to Scientific Employment Stimulus, awarded by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) in September 2026 (provisional results).
Based on his strong publication record and expertise in the field, Professor Dawei Liang, Head of the Laser Technology Group of CEFITEC, has been appointed to the Editorial Board of Energies, within the section A2: Solar Energy and Photovoltaic Systems.

At the general assembly held on March 16, 2026, at the Instituto Pedro Nunes in Coimbra, Prof. Filipe Ferreira da Silva was elected President of the Portuguese Vacuum Society (SOPORVAC) for the 2026–2028 term. The new governing bodies also include Dr. Ana Fonseca as President of the General Assembly, Dr. Mónica Mendes as Secretary of the General Assembly, Prof. João Ameixa as President of the Supervisory Board, and Prof. Nenad Bundaleski as Board Member, all integrated members of CEFITEC.
The "VÁCUO Workshop 2026" will take place on March 16, from 2:00 to 6:00 PM, at the Auditorium of Instituto Pedro Nunes in Coimbra, bringing together specialists to discuss vacuum technology, materials synthesis, deposition methods, and characterization techniques. Abstracts accepted until March 9.
The study Revisiting CN⁻ Formation Mechanisms in Electron Collisions with Benzonitrile has been selected for the front cover of ChemPhysChem. The research work was first authored by Rodrigo Rodrigues, PhD student in the RaBBiT program at CEFITEC, and co-authored by the CEFITEC researchers Mónica Mendes, João Ameixa, and Filipe Ferreira da Silva.
