PhD project: Synthesis and advanced characterization techniques of oxide composites for catalytic applications

Resume:

This research focuses on the development of novel cobalt-containing hybrid nanocomposite catalysts based on smectite clay. The materials are prepared through the simultaneous intercalation of Al-polyoxo and alkylammonium cations, followed by impregnation with cobalt (II) ions and heat treatment under an inert atmosphere. Their chemical, structural, morphological, surface, and textural properties are investigated using advanced physicochemical characterization techniques. The synthesized materials are evaluated as catalysts for peroxymonosulfate activation in advanced oxidation processes, using azo dyes as model organic pollutants in water. The research aims to establish relationships between catalyst composition, structure, surface properties, and catalytic performance, contributing to the development of efficient materials for water treatment.
