PhD project: Development of High Efficiency Continuous-Wave Multi-Rod Ce:Nd:YAG Solar Pumped Laser

Resume:

This research will develop a multi-rod, continuous-wave, solar-powered Ce:Nd: YAG laser. The primary goal is to develop a solar-powered laser system that consistently pumps Ce:Nd: YAG laser rods, resulting in a powerful and stable laser beam. The fundamental objective of this research is to find the optimal solar concentration mechanism, resonator design, and pumping configuration to maximize energy transmission to the laser medium. The project aims to characterize and analyze the laser output in great detail to increase its efficiency, beam quality, and stability. The research will also look into improving solar concentration or adding more laser rods to increase laser strength. If this solar-pumped laser system can be developed, it could lead to high-intensity lasers in materials processing, medical therapies, and space exploration powered by clean and renewable energy.
